Back in action

Hello everyone! We're happy to report that the widget is now working again. Unfortunately, We were forced to release a minor update, as the forthcoming 2.0 release just had too many loose ends to tie up in time. It's still underway, though the recent changes have delayed it further than hoped.

Another note about this update: viewing flagged videos is, unfortunately, not possible due to changes at YouTube that we couldn't fix in time for this release. We found it more important to get the widget up and running again, and will try to reintroduce this functionality when 2.0 arrives. Thanks for your patience!

First Class YouTube

YouTube makes a first class appearance in Dashboard, and it looks better than ever. MyTube puts all of YouTube's video content at your fingertips in an elegantly small yet surprisingly powerful widget. Browse all of YouTube's features, recents, favorites, top rated, most viewed, most discussed, and most linked videos. Filter by date, by category, and by language, and search by subject or by channel. View your favorites, playlists, subscriptions, and even your own video collection - it's all here.

Form and Function: The Cinematic Experience

And the ease of finding the content is only the beginning, as MyTube provides the best possible viewing experience for all of your favorite videos. Videos appear within the adorable little TV set for casual viewing, or in a stunning fullscreen mode at any of 4 viewing sizes. The controls are effortless, allowing you to scrub through videos, play and pause, rewind, adjust volume, and more. All of these controls are available via keyboard shortcuts as well, to further streamline the viewing experience.

Integrated iPod/iTunes Export*

MyTube has full support for seamless export to iTunes, specially formatted to work perfectly on your iPod. With a single click a video will drop into the downloads queue, which will automatically format the video and import it into iTunes, giving it the appropriate title, creator, date, and description. The download feature is a bonus as my way of saying thanks to those who donate. Not to worry, though, a few trial downloads are built-in so you can experience how MyTube will change the way you consume youTube content. Oh, and you can unlock the bonus feature indefinitely with a donation of $1.99 or more. That's right, for the cost of a single iTunes music video you can bring all of youTube to iTunes and your iPod. A Whole Bag of Tricks

If you find a video you like, a few clicks or a single keystroke will share it with friends, post it to delicious, copy the link, allow you to embed it into your own web page, view similar and response videos. The list goes on. It's also got a few clever ways to handle your continual coming and going from Dashboard, making the most of what Dashboard has to offer. This is one tiny little widget with a huge feature set, so please, explore the possibilities.

MyTube supports drag'n'drop for URLs. You can even drag a video from YouTube (or this icon) onto the widget to play it. Create a smart playlist containing all of your exported YouTube videos with a "Category" is "YouTube" filter. An extensive list of keyboard shortcuts puts control at your fingertips.

You can return to the first page of a category or results list by clicking the header at the top of the guide. Try the various options for leaving Dashboard on the back; I prefer attenuating the volume. Don't miss the "My Downloads" section to keep track of iTunes exports in progress.
