Getting Started

First things first, you'll likely want to download the Photoshop template file by clicking on the lightset icon to the left. While you're welcome to start from scratch, this file provides a basic structure that will aid you in creating your first lightset, offering a neatly organized layer hierarchy and some guides to simplify the process.
The template itself is a valid lightset, so I recommend using it as a starting point, adding your own lights to it one by one to ensure that they function as you expect. While I haven't included any specific instructions on how to create and export the lights, I have provided a basic specification which follows. These rules are important to ensure that your lightsets function smoothly when installed in the widget.
Lightset Specification
- You may have any number of bulbs, N, as long as both the "off" and "on" directories contain N bulbs each.
- Bulbs must be numbered from 0 (not 1) through N-1, and adhere to the naming convention bulb_n.png.
- All bulbs must be the same size, but their actual size, W x H, is up to you.
- The corner must be square, having dimensions H x H where H is the height of the bulbs, and be named corner.png. If you omit the corner.png file from the lightset, it will always display in hanging mode.
- Completed lightsets should all use the custom lightset icon supplied with the template
Submit a Lightset
If you've created a brand new lightset and testeed it out within the widget, we'd love to see it and offer it for others to enjoy as well. The submission process is informal: just attach your lightset in an email to
eben@interdimensionmedia.com. I'll verify it and add it to the lightset gallery as soon as I have a chance. Thanks!
