Out of Gas

I'm quite sorry to report that the Gas widget is presently, and perhaps indefinitely, unavailable. I've just recently been informed that GasPriceWatch, who has quite generously offered us access to their data to make the widget possible, are moving to a data licensing model and have already cut off our feed, thus rendering all existing instances of the widget useless.

It's also unfortunate that I wasn't made aware of this change in our agreement until access to the data was already cut off, and that I was away on vacation at the time and couldn't break this news to all of you who have been enjoying the widget for so long sooner. To those who have notified us directly of the recent lack of data, thank you, and I hope you'll understand that we can't get back to each and every one of you.

Refueling the Service

While GPW is offering us a licensing deal which would keep the widget running, and potentially bring about the availability of an iPhone app as well, we simply can't afford it. Chances are good that we'd be required to offer the app for an annual fee, rather than a fixed up front cost, which we'd much rather not have to do.

Nonetheless, we're open to pursuing matters further if the demand warrants it. If you'd be willing to pay an annual fee please let us know; if you are able to make a monetary donation now as a thank you for the years the Gas widget served you, or to encourage us to consider the licensing agreement, we'd appreciate it. Thanks!
